Publisher's Synopsis
It's the eve of Billy Winters thirteenth birthday. He's not expecting very much, he is the only child of parents, who would have much preferred it if he had the good manners to have been a rather lovely tabby cat than a screaming baby with a shock of white blonde hair. They already own countless cats, who take over every part of Billy's home, life and food! His parents had given up trying to keep the house clean years ago, as such Billy feels such shame when two girls from his class call round for help with their homework, that he runs from the house and finds himself stomping around the local churchyard, fuming at his life. It is there that Billy's life takes a strange turn. It starts to snow and out of the snow there forms a small creature who warns Billy of an event to come and hands him a crystal bowl for protection. He has no recollection as to how he gets home but he finds himself waking up the next morning in his own bed to the birthday shouts and greetings from his two best friends, a brother and sister called Stan and Kezia. Puzzled by what has happened to him he tries to explain to his friends when all of a sudden he blacks out unbeknown to Stan and Kezia he is taken to another realm where the crystal bowl comes in very useful. Billy meets for the first time, an elegant, and mysterious person by the name of Henley who reveals to Billy that he is not who he thinks he is, before he can fully understand, he regains consciousness and tries to go about his normal everyday life. However, that is, until Henley appears again but this time driving a somewhat erratic, very old, black taxi that is to transport Billy, Stan and Kezia to a world they only thought existed in books. Billy, Stan and Kezia encounter creatures and beings from mythology and fantasy. Some good, some bad, and some downright evil. It's a bumpy, hair raising drive, especially with Henley in the driving seat, so hold onto your hats for a very surprising ride.
