Publisher's Synopsis
Italian brothers Primo (Tony Shalhoub) and Seconda (Stanley Tucci) open a restaurant in New York in the 1950s. Although Primo is a great cook, the business struggles because American diners have not yet latched on to Italian cuisine. The brothers do their best, but there's trouble brewing in the fact that Seconda, the business manager, is two-timing his girlfriend Phyllis (Minnie Driver) with Gabriella (Isabella Rossellini), the mistress of rival restauranteur Pascal (Ian Holm). Everything comes to a head when Pascal promises that he can arrange for popular singer Luis Prima to dine at the brothers' restaurant, a visit which could make - or break - their reputation.
