This is the annual bibliography of linguistics published by the Permanent International Committee of Linguists under the auspices of the International Council for Philosophy and Humanistic Studies of UNESCO. It covers all the branches of linguistics and related disciplines, both theoretical and descriptive, from all geographical areas, including less known and extinct languages. More than 40 contributing specialists from all over the world collaborated to produce this work. The book not only cites linguistic publications in and about all the languages of the world, it also incorporates the reviews written about monograph publications in the areas of interest to linguists. A large majority of the publications found in the work are cited in the language in which they are published. Over 100 languages are represented in this way.;The text offers its users the availability of quick and easy access in electronic form. Starting with the volume covering publications in the year 1993, a CD-ROM version will be offered next to the bound edition. This single disk gives exhaustive data on all linguistics publications worldwide. Initially the CD-ROM will be available for UNIX and Windows platforms. A Macintosh-compatible version will become available later. Features include: context-sensitive search forms using the following search criteria: author, title, language or subject, journal title, publisher, year of publication, journal series, book series; proximity, Boolean, and wildcard searching; hypertext navigation from the table of contents and name index; bookmarking; print-out facilities; text export facilities; and supporting user-created annotations. A beta version is being tested by the market place. Single and multi-user licences will be made available.
