Luna, a precocious 10-year old with a school assignment, rides the train far outside her town's borders to the Rainbow Forest. Intent on catching sight of the elusive Japanese Redtail, Luna is caught up in a whirlwind adventure after following a peculiar Redtail through a tunnel in the middle of the forest.
Suddenly, Luna finds herself on the other side of the Rainbow Forest, a place where animals talk, dragons roam, and portals move at their leisure. With her portal home gone, she must work alongside her new animal friends to make her way back before nightfall. But when they are ambushed out of the blue, Luna must push aside her fears and save her new friend before it's too late.
