14-year-old Juliana always has things under control, but a cross-continent move at Christmas to care for an ailing grandfather she only knows through phone calls and kitschy greeting cards is more than she can handle. Can an old book of drawings change that? Maybe: the pictures were drawn by her great grandmother Elisabeth to help her deal with the upheavals in Europe that followed in the wake of World War I. Unfortunately, though, the only connection between Juliana's new life and Elisabeth's drawings is her grandfather's memory, and it's disappearing piece by piece with each passing day.
