Azrael has spent his life in the king's army as a talented swordsman-until a fateful ambush threatening the life he knew turns into a miracle that brings him face to face with his king. Lark is haunted by the ghost of her father and the god of night. Given the only magic within the last thousand years, Lark has struggled to balance learning it and taking back the kingdom that had been given to her father's right hand. In the years Lark was cast away by the new king, the people forgot their princess. When the god of night brings someone new into her life, her plans are uprooted as she must find a new balance in fighting her feelings and fighting for her kingdom.
As the threads of fate pull them deeper into the darkness, Azrael and Lark have to be strong enough to bring the kingdom back into the light, or watch their world collapse into night.
