In a tiny Yorkshire village, Harriet is lost in grief for Richard, her lover who died a year ago. His family blames her for the breakup of his marriage, but the truth is more complicated. Harriet has had no contact with them since Richard's death - until his daughter Niamh turns up on her doorstep one day, needing a sympathetic ear, followed by her uncle Tim.
