Publisher's Synopsis
Edgeworth's first full-length novel, 'Belinda' was written in 1800 and published in three volumes in 1801. The theme of the novel is love, courtship and marriage and the original edition was notable for its depiction of interracial marriage between an African servant and an English farm-girl although these sections were removed from later editions.
