Publisher's Synopsis
A collection of poems written during my first year living at the Ashby Ponds retirement community. Largely chronological, the short poems or vignettes in rhyme describe my observations and feelings about the world both inside and outside Ashby Ponds - about the residents and events that moved me emotionally. With few exceptions I've avoided identifying individual residents and I've included the good, the poignant and even the sadness that I witnessed. And many of the poems simply record my journey into what our Mexican friends call the third age - disability, death, God - thoughts that aging increasingly evokes. Come join me now for a one year journey walking in my shoes as I adjust to aging and life in a CCRC.
