Before the Cut is a whimsical re-thinking of the Samson legend as a satiric and irreverent prequel to the Biblical story. In this Monty Python-esque romp, the central figure is the self-absorbed, inept Governor of Gaza, Recto, who, abetted by his fearfully fawning slave Zalduck, obsessively pursues the beautiful but vain and calculating Delilah, who, in turn, has her lascivious eyes on the woman-chasing, reluctant up-and-coming champion of the Israelites, Samson - all played out with brisk, comic pacing.
