Becky's Wish

Although a thunderstorm was brewing outside, it was another routine day for the staff at St. Mary's hospital in Seattle. The hospital's top cardiac surgeon Michael Smith had just begun his last surgery of the day, a surgery he had performed a thousand times. The rain was pouring down, thunder pounding the sky and lightening crashing with a vengeance, lighting the otherwise dark city. Michael was only an hour into the surgery when a call went out over the loud speakers calling for all surgeons to report to the emergency room immediately. Michael knew it wasn't good. With the weather, he assumed it had to be a bad accident and a lot of patients coming in. This night would change Michael forever, sending his life spiraling out of control. The life he knew would no longer make sense. The career he was so passionate about would no longer mean anything to him and the support from his friends would no longer matter. On his quest for death, while in a drunken stupor, he crosses paths with a 12 year old girl, who only has one wish. He had never met her before, nor would he ever, but because she inadvertently saves his life, he vows to do everything in his power to grant Becky's Wish. The wish will send Michael on a journey through heartache, loss, grief, the power of love and in the process of it all, he finds the strength to face the consequences of his actions and with a little help from an unexpected person, Michael finds himself again.
