Manuelo and Conchieta were couples living in mexico. Manuelo was given life sentence and went to work for General Ruiz. There he met Ruiz wife Bella. During his sentence, Ruiz hacienda was attack by men from a cartel. Ruiz was killed and Bella save Manuelo from taking the blame by hiding him amongst her servant. After one year later, Bella allowed Manuelo to return home. He searches for his family but they were gone. He found the priest who told him to go to the town where he last saw her. There Mauelo found Conchieta who was now living as Cruz wife. Cruz a drug dealer was feared by the local people and they were planning his demise along with Conchieta father. When they attach Cruz hacienda, Conchieta was killed. Cruz also was killed. Manuelo found out that his son Ramos was in New Mexico with an American family, Charles and Mary Elliot. They flew to New Mexico to find their son. When they arrive, Mary was not too enthusiastic to give up the boy. Bandits of the Heart is Michael Ross' third book. It is about a young man search for his family after he is given a life sentence. Michael Ross lives in New York City and has three children.
