Bookseller Notes

Bennett writes in gratitude to Brigid Rose, in response to her 'complimentary letter' - declaring himself 'not a very clever person which is why I write plays - one doesn't have to be', requiring merely 'an ear for the way people talk'. Regarding the recipient's hometown of Harrogate, Bennett suggests 'I don't think I dare show my face [...] after my programme for the Crown Hotel' (the documentary, 'Alan Bennett: Dinner at Noon'), and closes with the hope that she'll 'enjoy the repeats of T.H. [Talking Heads]'.[With:] Stored within a copy of 'Two Kafka Plays', second printing, wrappers.
