These funny quirky characters were inspired by the brave, sincere and endearing 'Windrush' generation who nurtured Imani as she grew up in 1970s Britain. The stories are set in Talawah town, a fictional, ankh shaped island located off the West African (Alkebulan) coast. The stories are steeped in traditional African symbolism and are founded upon the ancient African principles of community, honour and 'UBUNTU' ('I am because you are').
