Publisher's Synopsis
This is an exploratory and theoretical study investigating financial reporting and auditing. The author's vantage point is that both conventional financial accounting and auditing are in a troubled state, primarily because of a basic problem of financial reporting in general: it does not aim at a truthful portrayal of real economic states and changes. Another vital issue is that auditing is not an independent test and thus does not resemble the verification process found in other disciplines.
