Publisher's Synopsis
The Audio CD provides students with native models of aural and oral exercises in the text. The models represent both Standard Spanish and dialectal variations. These exercises help students learn the four components of the worktext: the science of phonetics and phonology; the anatomy and production of sounds; comparative analysis between Spanish and English; the evolution of Spanish and dialectal diversity.
The CD also gives students access to folk songs that demonstrate the prosodic elements of the Spanish sound system. There are various exercises associated with songs: memorization, analysis of prosodic elements; rhythmic practice, clapping, singing, imitating patterns with new lyrics, etc. All of these exercises aim to aid students in the assimilation of native-like suprasegmental features.
