The folios as numbered in the edition of 1721, are given on the margin, to ren der the present copy applicable for reference in the perusal of former writers, whose works have been published subsequent to that, and previous to this edition.

Evident errors have been frequently corrected without the parade of a' note, since that minuteness must be considered as useless, which retains the mistakes of an author, merely for the sake of bibliographical accuracy.

III most instances where a poet's life has been recorded, a specimen from some one of his productions is added an insertion, which, whilst it occupies but a small space in the work, will, it is hoped, be acceptable to the admirers of our early literature.
