Publisher's Synopsis
An estimated 130 million poor in Latin America and the Caribbean currently have no access to health care. A study reviewing the problems confronted by health care systems in this area is reported here. Current and potential capacity to provide adequate health protection for the poor are analyzed and recommendations are given for the reform of health care in the region with a view to increasing access for the poor. Case studies included cover Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.
