Publisher's Synopsis
Nestled deep in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains is a famed school that began in 1913, by men of vision. It was known as Stuart Robinson. For forty-four years Christian education and guidance shined its light on a beautiful campus. Unfortunately, Stuart Robinson closed its doors in 1957. The Letcher County School system utilized the facilities until 1960. For six years, the campus lay dormant except for a few classes that were held in the cafeteria and gym. The buildings started falling into disrepair. Then came the year 1966, when visionaries came to eastern Kentucky with a vision and a time as pure as Camelot begun. It was known as Calvary and the fledgling institution opened its doors as a Christian college. This is Calvary's story. At the Foot of Calvary is pictorial book devoted to preserving the visual images of Calvary College, located in Letcher County, Kentucky. Countless youth of yesterday went through the facilities learning about life and how to life as a Christian. The experiences of those who attended the institution are forever enshrined within their hearts. The campus of Calvary has been and continues to be a beacon to those lost and searching for answers. The purpose of the book is to capture and preserve those unique years for the rising generations. The pictorial history compliments and supplements the book of reflections by staff and alumni. The book is entitled, In the Shadow of Calvary's Cross.
