In the town of Duskhelm, the people have been taught that magic isn't real. Dragons, elves, and dwarves are the stuff of fairy tales and lore. The dangers facing the town are based in reality, with marauders lurking beyond their walls, waiting for any opportunity to sneak in and quietly raid the down. Mani, a young cadet training for the King's Service, and his friend Goby are about to find out, along with the rest of the people of Duskhelm, that what lurks in the darkness beyond and above their walls is far worse than a handful of rogues looking to steal jewelry and money. When the storm clouds glow and ignite, Mani's world changes. Duskhelm is sacked, and the survivors find themselves among races of beings who should not exist. Determined to uncover the lies and rebuild the kingdom on the light of truth, a new king will emerge and call all people scattered throughout the realm to join him in uniting the kingdom of man.
