Excerpt from Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 15: Approving Charter of the City of Santa Cruz, County of Santa Cruz, State of California, Voted for and Ratified by the Qualified Voters of Said City at a Special Municipal Election Held Therein for That Purpose on the 31st Day of January, 1911
Sec. 22. Fire limits. To establish fire limits, determine the character and height of structures therein, and the nature of the materials and appliances to be used in the construction, alteration, or repair thereof, or in the alteration or repair of existing structures.
Sec. 23. Fire escapes. To require the owners of strue tures to provide fire escapes and appliances for prevention and extinguishment Of fires.
