The story begins in the 18th century with Raiszadah mourning the deaths of her fallen comrades after a bitter war. In despair, she forces herself into a catatonic state, isolating herself from the mortal realm for several years. Frustrated by her antics, Jahei, the God of Water, revives her and urges her to live a more peaceful life. Agreeing with him, she tries to move forward but to her dismay, Raiszadah is plagued by nightmares of a mortal's sufferings instead. Meanwhile, Zhou Bai faces his own grave predicament. The poor lad is sold off to a brothel by his cruel grandfather where he is forced to become a courtesan and degrade himself to survive. Due to these circumstances, Zhou Bai decides to beg the Goddess of Fire for help through prayers in hopes that she will take pity on his and save him from this cruel fate. Fortunately, the two minds think alike. After hearing his pitiful cries in her dreams, Raiszadah decides to embark on a journey with the help of Jahei to find Zhou Bai and rescue him before it's too late.
