In the first half of Volume 2, Ryou, the newly appointed party leader and Paladin, strengthens the bonds with his newfound allies. As the story delves into their pasts, secrets are unveiled, specifically surrounding Ayame, the aspiring Mage, and Rei, the Priestess as their destinies become intertwined in the world of Ashen. Ryou shares his journey, from a complete novice, one whom started out much like Ash to eventually becoming a Paladin, instilled with the values of justice and courage by his mentor, Isidore, the High Priest.
Ayame's training in the Mystic Enclave is detailed, revealing her innate ability to manipulate arcane magic. Under the guidance of Guild Master Aria, she learns the intricacies of the Mage arts, navigating the magical labyrinth within her soul. The Enclave becomes a sanctuary for Ayame, where she finally embraces her true self and finds acceptance amongst her Mentor. Meanwhile, Rei's training under the wise and revered Grand Cleric Livia unveils a secret, that she knows about Rei's true elven heritage, one that she has kept hidden since the very beginning.
The secret of her divine bloodline is exposed, hinting at a deeper connection to the world's history and the enigmatic Elder Dragon that first appeared in Ashen. As she delves into her past, she becomes more resolute in her pursuit of healing and protecting others whilst seeking out redemption for her race. As the trio grows stronger in their respective hero classes, Ryou offers them an opportunity to face real challenges. The chance to take on actual monsters lurking near the Rim presents itself. Through battles and encounters, they learn to rely on each other's strengths, forging a true bond as a formidable party. As their journey progresses, the heroes will find their paths intertwined, not only by fate but by a shared destiny as they seek to protect Ashen from the darkness that threatens to engulf it.
