Publisher's Synopsis
The ASC Waterborne Adhesives Proceedings presents information highlighting the leading waterborne adhesives in use today, advantages of using waterborne adhesives, recent developments in "green" chemistry, application and production equipment and various additives and other formulation techniques that can enhance products. Waterborne adhesives (or water-based adhesives) are adhesives that are compounded with water as a diluent rather than a volatile organic solvent. Water-based technology is well established in the adhesives and sealants industry. They have applications in all of the leading adhesive end-use markets including carpet backing, construction, packaging, and also in pressure sensitive labels and decals. From the environmental point of view, waterborne adhesives are considered as low VOC adhesives, and should offer significant savings from avoiding emission control equipment costs, and hazardous waste disposal charges. This book contains copies of the presentations made at the ASC Waterborne Adhesives Short Course in 2009. This course covered all aspects of waterborne adhesives and the three main sections are: Innovations in waterborne raw materials/additives, including an examination of 'green chemistries' Processing and application equipment End-user perspectives, including packaging, non-wovens and assembly This book will be useful to all technical and sales/marketing personnel employed by adhesive and sealant manufacturers, suppliers or end-user companies. Speaker contact information is included for each presentation, providing easy access to the experts for questions and technical assistance.
