Live performances of the operas 'Aida', 'Carmen' and 'Tosca', from Verona's famous amphitheatre. Maria Chiara takes centre stage in Gianfranco De Bosio's lavish production of Verdi's opera, staged in 1992. Icelandic tenor Kristján Jóhannsson plays Radamés, with American mezzo-soprano Dolora Zajick as Amneris and Juan Pons as Amonasro. The orchestra and chorus are conducted by Nello Santi. Franco Zeffirelli directs this performance of 'Carmen', Bizet's most well-known and loved opera, which was recorded on a warm summer evening in July 2003 and features one of the new faces of opera, Russian-born Marina Domashenko. In 'Tosca', Daniel Oren conducts the orchestra and chorus in a performance recorded in 2006. Fiorenza Cedolins, Marcelo Alvarez and Ruggero Raimondi lead an all-star cast.
