Publisher's Synopsis

This book is a part of a set of 4 books which offers students, engineers and researchers advanced knowledge for the design and the elaboration of architectured materials in which the transport of radiative heat is controlled for an energy application (concentrated solar power, radiative cooling, spatial propulsion, matter transformation in manufactured industry). These 4 monographs come from the 14 written courses given during the spring CNRS thematic school MATTER (Architectured Materials for the control of Radiative Heat Transfer: from material elaboration process up to applications in industrial conditions) and organized by the French research network TAMARYS (May 10-15, 2022). This third monograph outlines general considerations concerning the elaboration of dense and porous ceramics and thin films. The principle of sintering is described in the chapter 2 and the relation between radiative properties, microstructure and elaboration processes are highlighted. Practical applications in the field of renewable energy are given.
