This is a Pupil's book and Teachers' notes illustrating and explaining the processes involved in designing. The book illustrates through examples design and technological activity within a range of contexts - home, school, recreation, community, business and industry. At the end of each section some pages are devoted to following through four example activities which gradually develop throughout the book, which are: cycling for recreation, which includes designing a small removable trailer; how the elderly are cared for at home and in the community; retail outlets for hand-made jewellery, incorporating aspects of art and design, metalwork and business and economics; the development of young children, leading to the design of a baby alarm.;The Teachers' set includes a copy of the Pupils book plus approximately 16 pages of Teachers' notes and includes two double-page spreads showing how the Pupils' book fulfils the requirements of the NCC Consultation Report on Technology.
