This set contains six films starring Anthony Hopkins. 'The Looking Glass War' (1969) is a thriller based on the novel by John Le Carre. In exchange for political asylum, Polish defector Leiser (Christopher Jones) agrees to return behind the Iron Curtain to confirm the suspicions of the British Security Chief that East Germany is building a rocket in violation of the disarmament pact. Hopkins plays his handler, John Avery. In 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' (1982), Hopkins takes the role of Quasimodo in a surprisingly faithful adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic novel. '84 Charing Cross Road' (1987), based on the book by Helen Hanff, is the touching and true story of a love affair conducted entirely by letter between an American woman (Anne Bancroft) in New York City and an antiquarian bookdealer (Hopkins) in Charing Cross Road, London. In 'The Remains of the Day' (1993), Hopkins gives one of his most acclaimed performances as Stevens, the perfect English butler, secretly in love with housekeeper, Miss Kenton (Emma Thompson) in this Merchant-Ivory adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguru's novel of repressed desire. In 'Legends of the Fall' (1994), based on the novel by Jim Harrison, US Cavalry officer Colonel William Ludlow (Hopkins) takes early retirement after despairing of the Government's treatment of the Western Tribes. In the remote foothills of the Montana Rockies he builds a ranch where he brings up his three sons. When the youngest son Samuel (Henry Thomas) returns from the city with beautiful fiancee Susannah (Julia Ormond), she attracts the admiration of Alfred and Tristan, his two brothers (Brad Pitt and Aidan Quinn). After one of their number is lost in the First World War, the surviving sons return home to rebuild their lives - and fight once more for Susannah's love. In Franci Ford Coppola's big budget version of 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' (1992), Hopkins plays Doctor Van Helsing, the man who must put a stop to the nocturnal activities of the undead vampire, Prince Vlad (Gary Oldman).
