Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Annual Report of the Commissioner of Navigation to the Secretary of Commerce: For the Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 1921

Nine-tenths of the increase in American shipp' in trade with North America is due to the importation of oil in tan ships into the United States from Mexico, increasing from 737 million allons in 1914 to million gallons in 1921 and the clearance of a out net tons of shipping in ballast, almost wholly American, from our ports for Mexico.

In 'the overseas trade of 1914 American ships had scarcely 3 per cent; in that trade in 1921 almost one-third.
