A Sandwich l'hérésic était sur le trône et continuait d'opprimer les catholiques si la foi n'était plus com me par le passé le motif avoué de ses violences elle n'était pas moins l'objet de ses insultes et le but de ses vexations arbitraires. On ne formait plus les églises mais on interdisait les écoles et tout en reprochant aux Missionnaires l'ignorance de leurs disciples, on leur contestait à eux-mèmes le droit d'enseigner.
