Publisher's Synopsis

This boxed-set, which includes three CD-ROMs and accompanying supporting documentation, presents textual as well as visual information on Australian mammals, birds, reptiles and frogs. Using the multimedia pack, the user can see and hear native Australian animals and discover about their behaviour, habitat, feeding habits and own physical appearance. Environmental concerns are tackled in the video sequences, examining threats to existence. Each page of information is illustrated and every chapter has a range of video segments accompanied by the relevant sounds. All the necessary instructions are included on screen so that the CD-ROM can be used interactively by all ages. The interactive package features over 1500 pages of text, 1500 colour images as well as 40 minutes of video. There are also tools included to create and playback your own "minibook", add notes, bookmarks, copy text, photographs, and tables for example. In addition, quizzes, jigsaws and crosswords are incorporated to increase understanding. Users with an interest in biology, zoology and natural history of the animals in Australia should find this pack useful.
