Publisher's Synopsis
Triple bill featuring three classic war movies. 'Angels One Five' (1952) is a semi-documentary film, starring Jack Hawkins and John Gregson. Set in the Summer of 1940, a squadron of Hurricanes are followed as they take on the massive wave of Luftwaffe fighters and bombers that are intent on breaking down Britain's defences as a prequel to a German invasion. Without the bravery of these pilots Britain may well have been invaded. 'The Dam Busters' (1954) is the true story of Dr Barnes Wallis (Michael Redgrave), whose invention of the 'Bouncing Bomb' is greeted with scepticism in the Second World War. However, RAF Wing Commander Guy Gibson (Richard Todd) proves the bomb's worth in a daring mission to destroy the German Ruhr Dams. Finally, in 'Aces High' (1976), new airforce recruit, Lt. Stephen Croft (Peter Firth), takes an instant dislike to his embittered squadron leader, Maj. John Gresham (Malcolm McDowell). But as the young pilot experiences the tensions and stresses of warfare, his dislike turns to admiration.
