Publisher's Synopsis

This story follows Joshua McDelido, a little boy who can see angels. One day, he tells his mom, Rebecca about his ability. He says that there is an angel right behind her. Confused, Rebecca asks for a description of one. Joshua claims they are winged beings with halos. As he talks, more angels appear, but Rebecca cannot see them. Thinking her son's imagination is running wild, Rebecca asks him to stop. Later, when Rebecca needs to go grocery shopping, her car won't start. Joshua says the angels can help. Exasperated, Rebecca agrees to his suggestion. Just as the words left her mouth, three angels appear and begin fixing the car. An excited Joshua describes their work. When the angels finish, Rebecca turns the ignition key and the car comes alive. The experience makes her more open to Joshua stories. With his mother's encouragement, Joshua gains the confidence to talk about the angels' names and angelic encounters. Nicknaming her son "The Angel Detector," Rebecca wonders if other adults had similar experiences with him. She asks Joshua's teacher Miss Cassandra, as well as the bus driver Mr. Jamison. However, both say that Joshua is a well-behaved student who enjoys reading books. They haven't heard him talk about angels. Realizing that Joshua has been keeping his ability a secret all this time, Rebecca apologizes to her son and suggests holding a party to celebrate his Angel Detection.
