Publisher's Synopsis

The inmate in Ganymede's sidereal prison, Nick van Dyck, sentenced to thirty years in imprisonment for crimes of computer piracy, is unexpectedly inserted into a social recovery program on the recommendation of the director of the penitentiary, Muller. In reality, the program was started with the express purpose of identifying people possessing specific requirements for recruitment in the army's special forces, engaged in the conquest of a new colony extra solar system inhabited by a race of mysterious and warlike aliens called Ashi. Although fought by doubts and reticence, Van Dyck decides to accept the opportunity that is offered him with the unsaid purpose of organizing instead an escape plan that allows him to avoid the uncertainty of a war which does not seem to envisage anything good. In his aid intervenes a fearful mafia boss named Oz who provides him with the money necessary to carry out the plan. But the first difficulties for our hero begin to take shape on his return to his home planet, Mars, where he will discover that the definitive acquisition of freedom can only be achieved through the overcoming of a series of unforeseen obstacles planned by the spirits that maneuver the fate of Universe.
