Inscribed by the author on the flyleaf: 'To:- Danny, with every good wish from the author, Carl Marsh [...] June 20, 1939'.An idiosyncratic fantasy thriller, involving an order called the 'Cosmic Brotherhood' and drawing on contemporary events; the advertising leaflet quotes various reviewers, mostly provincial, to the effect that the book will have a 'special appeal' for 'the student of psychology, the occult and the mysterious', calling it 'weird in structure and packed with incident, 'most unusual', 'startling', and 'intensely sincere' in a way that does not always sound unambiguously positive. Marsh had previously published a book of poetry, 'Songs on the Road'.
