Publisher's Synopsis

Volume Three of the Secret in the Tangerine is unique. Unlike the previous two volumes, only material handicap matches are discussed. The volume is divided into two different sections, with the first section discussing Red giving up the left horse as a handicap to start the game. There are ten boards in this section, and Red would begin with the Central Cannon. A variety of counters can be seen, including the Single Horse Defense, the Screen Horse Defense et cetera. In section two, Red would give up two horses to start the game. There are eight different boards in this section. Interestingly, Red would start the game with the Riverbank Cannon (C2+2) for the first seven boards. Only in the last board would Red begin with the Central Cannon. As Red would start with a material handicap, Red would try to attack aggressively. There are many questionable Black counters which resulted in Red victories. They have been pointed out, and contemporary recommendations have also been added. The author believes that the beginner can learn much from Red's attacks as basic tactics and strategies have been demonstrated, while the controversial Black moves would serve as a guide as what NOT to do on the board. As in the previous volumes, in-depth analyses and comments have been provided to guide the reader step by step.
