This study provides an analysis of the evidence available as to the sources by main industrial group of waste arisings which are landfilled in the UK. Future trends in industrial waste production and information on waste composition and on disposal costs are also examined. The study's findings reflect the uncertainty which remains over the sources of such wastes. The results provided should be a useful guide to those industrial groups most likely to be affected by the higher waste disposal costs resulting from influences such as the introduction of higher environmental standards for landfill; market pressures; and the introduction of the landfill tax.
