Publisher's Synopsis
This book is a tremendous amount of well-explained and helpful background on the Sutras and the Masters. The first part of the book gives a wonderful overview of Mahayana Buddhism and the key masters, or teachers, who provided so much of the commentary on the Sutras. It is the second part of the book that contains the three Pure Land Sutras. For genuine Buddhists, this is a gem, excellent translation. You already s should have taken a serious class in Shinran and his Jodo Shinshu before tackling this, or it w not make any sense. NOT an intro to Buddhism. It is taught about Amitayus Buddha and its vow and the Paradise which is Pure Land.
