Publisher's Synopsis
One of Wilde's most popular plays, this comedy deals with blackmail, corruption and honour-both private and public. The original run of the play was interupted by the arrest of Wilde for 'gross indecency' a code word for homosexuality, and with that the promise career of the playwright was finished.
