The slash (1) fuel model of the 1972 National Fire Danger Rating System was evaluated for homogeneity within the model and for differences from other fuel models. Clearcut slash is different from partial cut slash at the l-percent level of confidence. Pacific Northwest clearcut slash loads are different from other clearcut slash at the 5-percent level. New fuel models are proposed.
