Publisher's Synopsis
David Hume was a Scottish philosopher, historian, and economist. Hume created a highly influential system of philosophical empiricism, skepticism, and naturalism. Much of Hume's work examined the psychology of human nature with the idea that passion influences behavior more than reason. An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding, published in 1748, is a book that Hume wrote in response to the disappointing reception he received after writing A Treatise of Human Nature.
