Castro's most frightening secret. The CIA intercepts a conversation between Boniato Gutierrez a man known as Satchmo. Satchmo has never had a photo taken but the sound of his voice is such that even Castro fears him. After all, Satchmo is the guardian of Cuba's most feared secret. A secret that would change the History of the world if it were to be exposed. Boniato while on holiday in Athens, Greece, spots the very man he had been ordered to kill ten years earlier. Satchmo orders a team of Cuban agents to go to Patmos, an island in Greece to kidnap this man, a former pilot who was shot down at the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba. It is this man whom Boniato believes he had killed, knows of this secret. Suddenly, after nine years he surfaces in Greece, going into a doctor's office. The next morning Greek police recover the body of Doctor Anton Antonopoulus. His office trashed by an arsonist. Doctor's records identify the man as a Greek/American known as Paplaka, last heir of the Lazaro shipping fortune, now a recluse living on Patmos.Satchmo's team, must kidnap Paplaka, verify what he knows, then kill him before he can reveal the events he witnessed at a secret meeting in Havana in 1961. The CIA orders Agent Jake Parrott to Patmos to find out what the Cubans fear and the secret Paplaka possesses. Meanwhile, Agent Parrott learns of events over the missing nine years as Paplaka describes the Bay of Pigs battle and of lies made to the Brigade, and of Paplaka's capture after being shot down. Parrott also discovers Paplaka believes he caused Elena's death. We learn of the trials Elena faced believing her husband to be, Paplaka had died in the attempted escape from Cuba. She lived in constant fear not knowing Paplaka was still alive, her only protection is a pitiful former employee who suffers from debilitating polio and a rough whisper of a voice. The CIA arrange a plan to protect Paplaka and nearly pulls it off... But the Cubans have a second plan... It will be Elena, who leads both Parrott and Paplaka to a whirlwind of intrigue from Greece to Cuba, to Dallas and back with a frightening conclusion found in a warehouse outside a Cuban insane asylum.
