The family farming business is doing well but Mary's romantic life isn't so hot. Her courtship with Samuel has gone sour while Jacob hopes to take his place in Mary's broken heart. But just as fast as things start to look up, a prolonged drought hits the Amish community, destroying businesses. The Amish families decide to return to Pennsylvania but Mary can't decide on whether or not she wants to come along. She struggles with the decision of returning home with her Amish family or staying put to find out if Jacob is worthy of her love.
