Publisher's Synopsis

'An American Odyssey' tells of the life and loves of Martha Jane Fairfax from the time when she arrived with her parents and siblings in America in 1885. Setting off for California her family are slaughtered and she is abducted by a Sioux Brave who became the love of her life. After his slaughter by the cavalry she and her son and baby daughter are taken to Fort Laramie by The Officer. The book is made up of seven books within the whole each being about a man in her life at that time. Read about The Rancher who abused her and whose untimely death was said to have been by the will of the great Cochise. Amos, the old-timer, who took her in his old wagon on a perilous journey through snow storms and Artic conditions and the fear of wolves always close by to reach her dying son and the even more return journey with her baby grandson - one can live every moment with her. Eventually she does find true love with The Senator. Their happiness was complete with the birth of their daughter but it was short lived. On the death of her husband, now being a very rich woman, she fulfils her father's dream and buys a vineyard in California; here she makes a home for her children and step-children and the coming together of all her family. Reaching her 70th year she decides to take a holiday to the Old Country. I will not spoil the end for you but she dies happily going into the arms of her one true love her Sioux Brave.
