Publisher's Synopsis

Triple-bill of iconoclastic American films and movie documentaries. 'Donnie Darko' (2001) is a comic mixture of 80s sci-fi, horror and teen movie genres. October 1988 and small-town USA is about to witness the end of the world. Well, that's according to Frank, a giant, talking rabbit that only Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal), a brilliant but troubled teenager, can see. Frank has been urging Donnie to play dangerous pranks on his friends and dysfunctional family, but when he gets Donnie to leave his bedroom one night and tells him the world will end soon, strange things begin to happen - starting with the engine of an aeroplane plunging to ground and hitting Donnie's, now empty, bedroom. 'Easy Riders, Raging Bulls' (2003) is a revealing documentary chronicling the history of what was arguably the most creative decade in Hollywood's history. Covering a period that began with Dennis Hopper's groundbreaking 1969 film 'Easy Rider' and ended with Martin Scorsese's 'Raging Bull' (1980), Kenneth Bowser's documentary tells the inside story of an astonishing era fuelled by sex, drugs, fame and money. Finally, 'Overnight' (2005) is a documentary about the rise and rapid fall from grace of bartender Troy Duffy, who was plucked from obscurity by Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein to turn his script 'The Boondock Saints' into a movie. The deal received worldwide attention, and Duffy soon started leading the excessive Hollywood lifestyle he thought went with his new status, but when Weinstein put the film into turnaround, Duffy soon found himself on the long slide down to the bottom. Includes interviews with and footage of stars such as Willem Dafoe, Matthew Modine, and Billy Zane, amongst others.
