Publisher's Synopsis

Abandoned child - Adult seeking retribution - Enter Amazing Grace... Lorene Charles, an abandoned child, known to many as 'Lucky', is a master storyteller, smart and witty with little hope and big dreams. He is ferried back and forth between several abusive foster homes by overworked social workers, until he runs away to live as a child of the streets. He becomes a soldier of fortune, living off any means he can muster, until he meets a truant officer, who takes an interest in this boy's life. With help from an adult mentor he manages to grow up, but never quite leaves the street life behind. Good fortunate smiles on Lucky and he takes a job at a retirement home for elderly ladies, who are able to afford the luxury of fine living. Most of the individuals living there have distant relatives, who could question his motives. The exception is Grace Marshall, who has no one. She is the perfect 'pigeon' for his devious plans. Grace is the chance he has waited for his entire life, a chance to be the only heir to her fortune. Lucky plans to take advantage of this elderly woman by becoming indispensable to her. However, this very wise and willing victim has her own plans and foils his attempts to curry her favor; instead she plays along until he understands the ramifications of his actions. Once again, the spirit of insight steps in and changes his life forever. Love blossoms from friendship, and a tragic, heartbreaking event finally brings Lucky to a place of acceptance and a life he never thought possible. An unexpected ending ultimately ties the entire story together and the amazing Wisdom of Grace Marshall, which once saved a desperate man from his past, is passed on to another child of the streets.
