Publisher's Synopsis
Sage Brewster swore off men forever after her disaster of a first marriage. Living in a new town and hiding out under a pseudonym, she pulled herself up by her proverbial bootstraps and started anew, gaining a comfortable, cozy life for herself, complete with a best friend and a flourishing career as an author. Why change perfection by bringing a man into it?
When Sage has a chance encounter with her childhood celebrity crush, retired former child star Caleb Ryder, at a comic book convention where they are both guests, she thinks the one-night stand she recklessly throws herself into with him is just that--a one time thing. She never expects to see him again, and frankly doesn't want to. Caleb Ryder or not, he's still a man.
However, for Caleb, meeting her is love at first sight. After a lifetime of searching for real love, he isn't about to lose his shot with her. She's skittish, though. That much is clear. He must tread lightly if he wants to win her love, and he intends to do just that.
As Sage struggles with whether or not to respond to Caleb's private messages on social media, Caleb is plotting ways to see her again without seeming like a stalker. At the same time, Sage's violent ex-husband has finally tracked her down, and is on his way to exact revenge for her leaving him, and Caleb's manipulative mother is up to some no-good deeds of her own.
As their pasts and possible futures collide, Sage has to learn to trust a virtual stranger, and Caleb must draw on talents far beyond acting to keep this precious woman safe. While she and Caleb grow closer amid the chaos, Sage is forced to re-think her position on love. Is opening her heart again worth the risk? Can she trust Caleb the way he wants her to? Should she?
Everything Sage secretly wants is within reach. All she has to do is take it. Will the scars of the past keep her from embracing her happily ever after? Who knew romance could be so confusing?
This is a sweet romance, with no sex scenes on the page, but plenty of love. Even your grandmother can read and enjoy it.
