Publisher's Synopsis
To love and those who attempt it. All Your Changing Faces is the first published collection of poetry from arts journalist and opera librettist Daniel J. Kushner. The poems featured in this chapbook focus on romantic relationships, interpersonal connection, and alienation. The 14 poems are accompanied by Arrington de Dionyso's vibrant color illustrations--including the cover and six interior works--with cryptic and alluring imagery created specifically for this project. Inspired in part by the work of Leonard Cohen and Rainer Maria Rilke's "Duino Elegies," Kushner uses evocative metaphor and a neo-Romantic approach to language in selections such as "Pristine Page Responds to Rumpled Bedsheet," "Winter Myth," "The Successor," and the ten-part title poem. The result is a collection of love poetry that is unabashedly earnest, brimming with sensuality and immediacy.
