Vida y obra narrada de Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll), quien además de contar con su famosa historia de Alicia en el país de las maravillas era también profesor (matemático), prestidigitador y diácono de la Iglesia Christ Church en Oxford donde ejercía también como profesor y fotógrafo privado para niños. La surrealista obra del autor Lewis Carroll (Charles Dodgson) comienza reflejada en su vida ordinaria tras un viaje de tren que es donde reconoce a Alicia y sus hermanas y recuerdan donde les cuenta su famoso cuento que es cuando empieza el verdadero viaje. El profesor, diácono y fotógrafo de niños, se enamora platónicamente de Alicia cuya relación no es aprobada por su madre al no ser alguien importante así que deciden mantenerlo como una amistad en secreto plasmándola para siempre en la obra de 'Alica en el país de las maravillas'. Ésta relación es envidiada por sus hermanas, quienes también desearían su atención o ser la protagonista y quizás musa de la obra de ficción infantil que se convertiría en la más famosa de toda la literatura inglesa. Se contraponen dos personalidades marcadas: "Lewis", una idealizada imagen del escritor y "Charles", la persona humana, inocente y obsesiva cuyo trabajo en el colegio Christ Church en Oxford termina por no convencerle dejando así de ser diácono abandonando la Iglesia.Su vida está asociada a problemas de salud como su cojera, y otras afecciones desconocidas que lo llevaron a tomar láudano y a desviarse de su camino de rectitud abandonando la Iglesia por esto mismo o quizás optase por alejarse de ésta al ver cómo era por dentro. Sea como fuere, sus motivos no parecen ser otros que la pureza y la virtud de la inteligencia frente a otro tipo de curiosidades menos apropiadas para quien se rodea de niños y niñas, y en especial: Alicia. Para la que terminará escribiendo cumpliendo así con la petición de Alicia Liddell de escribir la obra de 'Alicia bajo tierra'.
