Ga frick, para hacerle justicia, aunque a espal das suyas, imitase burlescamente a Johnson y a su corpulenta y vulgar esposa, se cuido siempre de su antiguo maestro; y su primer paso al llegar a ser director del Teatro de drury-lane en 1747, fue representar la tra gedia de Johnson, Irene. Seguramente los dos amigos sostuvieron querella sobre cier tos pasajes de la obra que Garrick queria suprimir; pero al poco tiempo paso la tor menta, y sus relaciones continuaron siendo tan cordiales como hasta entonces.
